Food Safety and Surplus Disclosure

1. Purpose
ReLoop connects you with local stores selling surplus food — unsold inventory offered at a discount so it is enjoyed instead of wasted. This document explains what you should expect as a Customer and what Partners must provide. It is incorporated into our Terms of Service and Partner Agreement.
Please read carefully if you have food allergies or dietary restrictions.
2. What is a surplus listing?
A surplus listing on ReLoop is typically:
- Unsold prepared or packaged food near the end of a business day;
- A mixed bag or bundle of items (similar to a “surprise bag” or “goodie bag”);
- Offered at a discount (often 50–70% below a reference retail price);
- Available for pickup only during a limited time window at the Partner’s store.
Surplus listings are not the same as ordering a specific menu item made to order. Contents may vary from day to day.
3. Important disclosures for Customers
3.1 Contents may vary
Unless a listing explicitly names every item, exact contents are not guaranteed. You may receive a variety of surplus items within the described category (e.g. pastries, prepared meals, grocery items).
3.2 Allergens and dietary needs
- Partners are encouraged to disclose major allergens when known, but ReLoop does not guarantee allergen-free food.
- Surplus bags may contain or have come into contact with common allergens including gluten, nuts, dairy, eggs, soy, and shellfish.
- If you have a severe allergy or strict dietary requirement, surplus listings may not be suitable for you unless the Partner explicitly confirms suitability in the listing.
When in doubt, ask the Partner at pickup before consuming.
3.3 Freshness and best-before dates
- Surplus food is sold because it was not sold at full price during normal business — it may be close to the end of its peak freshness or labeled best-before date.
- Partners must not sell food that is unsafe or illegal to sell under Lao PDR law.
- Use-by dates (where safety-critical) must be respected by Partners. Customers should check packaging at pickup and use judgment.
3.4 Prepared food and refrigeration
Some surplus items may require refrigeration after pickup. Consume perishable items promptly and follow any storage instructions provided by the Partner.
3.5 No medical or nutritional advice
Information on the Platform is for general informational purposes only. ReLoop does not provide medical, nutritional, or dietary advice.
3.6 Partner responsibility
The Partner store is responsible for:
- Food safety, preparation, storage, and handling;
- Compliance with applicable food business licenses and inspections;
- Accurate representation of the type of food in the listing.
ReLoop is a marketplace platform, not the producer or seller of the food.
4. Pickup rules
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Pickup only | Orders must be collected at the Partner’s address during the stated window (unless ReLoop explicitly offers delivery in the future). |
| Pickup code | Present your in-app pickup code so the Partner can verify your Order. |
| ID | Partners may request reasonable verification matching the Order. |
| Timing | Arrive within the pickup window. Late arrival may result in forfeiture without refund — see Refund and Cancellation Policy. |
| Inspection | You may inspect the Order at pickup. Report issues to support within 24 hours. |
5. Partner food safety obligations
Partners agree to:
- Comply with law — Maintain valid business and food-related licenses required in Lao PDR.
- Safe handling — Follow hygienic food handling and storage practices.
- No unsafe sales — Do not list spoiled, contaminated, or recalled products.
- Honest descriptions — Describe the general category and known allergens when practicable.
- Temperature control — Keep hot food hot and cold food cold until handover where applicable.
- Packaging — Use appropriate bags or containers for surplus items.
- Incident reporting — Notify ReLoop at partners@reloop.la if a food safety issue affects Customers.
ReLoop may suspend Partners who receive credible food safety complaints or fail inspections.
6. “Original price” display
Some listings show an original price alongside the discounted surplus price for transparency (e.g. to illustrate savings). Original price may reflect:
- Typical retail price for similar items; or
- Partner’s internal reference price.
It is an estimate for comparison, not a guarantee that the same items would cost that amount if purchased individually at full price outside ReLoop.
7. Environmental impact messaging
ReLoop may display estimated environmental benefits (e.g. meals saved, CO₂ avoided). These figures are approximations based on models and industry averages unless stated otherwise. They are for awareness and motivation, not certified carbon accounting.
8. Questions and incidents
| Situation | Contact |
|---|---|

| Food safety concern after pickup | support@reloop.la (within 24 hours) |

| Serious illness | Seek medical attention first; then notify support |
9. Acknowledgment
By using ReLoop as a Customer, you acknowledge that:
- Surplus food listings involve inherent variability;
- You are responsible for your own dietary choices and allergy management;
- ReLoop does not warrant the suitability of any listing for your specific health needs.
By listing food as a Partner, you acknowledge your legal and food safety responsibilities as the seller of that food.
